PARALEGAL – RESIDENTIAL CONVEYANCING

JOB TITLE AND OVERVIEW
NPS Law is seeking an experienced and motivated Paralegal to join our busy Residential Conveyancing department at our head office in Solihull. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated legal professional to become an integral part of our dynamic team.
Reporting directly to a Senior Conveyancer, you will work alongside two other Legal Assistants in a collaborative and supportive environment. This role offers the chance to develop your conveyancing expertise while contributing to the efficient delivery of high-quality legal services to our residential property clients.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
As a Paralegal within our Residential Conveyancing team, your responsibilities will include:
Case Management and Administration
· Assisting the Senior Conveyancer with the management of a varied caseload of residential property transactions from instruction through to completion
· Preparing and reviewing legal documents including contracts, transfer deeds, and completion statements
· Conducting property searches and reviewing search results for potential issues
· Maintaining accurate and up-to-date case management records on our digital systems
· Ensuring all files comply with regulatory requirements and firm procedures
Client Communication and Liaison
· Acting as a key point of contact for clients, providing regular updates on transaction progress
· Responding to client queries in a timely, professional, and empathetic manner
· Liaising with estate agents, mortgage lenders, other solicitors, and third parties to progress matters efficiently
· Managing client expectations and explaining legal processes in clear, accessible language
Legal Document Preparation
· Drafting routine conveyancing correspondence and legal documents
· Preparing contract packages and requisition responses
· Reviewing mortgage offers and title documents
· Assisting with the preparation of completion documentation
Transaction Support
· Coordinating exchange of contracts and completion dates
· Conducting pre-completion searches and Land Registry applications
· Processing financial transactions in accordance with SRA Accounts Rules
· Undertaking post-completion formalities including SDLT returns and registration applications
Team Collaboration
· Working closely with the Senior Conveyancer and fellow Legal Assistants to ensure seamless service delivery
· Contributing to team meetings and continuous improvement initiatives
· Supporting colleagues during periods of high workload
· Maintaining a positive and professional team environment
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Experience
· Minimum 2-3 years' proven experience working within Residential Conveyancing
· Demonstrable knowledge of the conveyancing process from instruction to post-completion
· Experience in handling freehold and leasehold transactions
· Familiarity with registered and unregistered land
· Understanding of mortgage requirements and lender procedures
Qualifications and Knowledge
· Strong working knowledge of residential property law and conveyancing procedures
· Understanding of Land Registry requirements and SDLT regulations
· Awareness of SRA regulations and compliance obligations
· Relevant legal qualifications (e.g., LLB, GDL, CILEx, or equivalent) preferred but not essential for candidates with substantial practical experience
· Commitment to ongoing professional development
REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Technical Skills
· Excellent IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite and case management systems
· Ability to navigate Land Registry portal and conduct online searches
· Strong document drafting and proofreading abilities
· Competent in managing electronic filing systems and digital workflows

Pay: £27,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
