Best Start Family Hubs in Brighton & Hove bring together support, services and community activities for families across the city. This role is central to developing our volunteering offer and ensuring local families feel welcomed, valued and supported when getting involved.

We have two roles available – one full-time role in Best Start Family Hub Tarner and one job share in Best Start Family Hub Whitehawk.

About the role

You’ll coordinate volunteering across our Family Hubs, from recruiting and supporting volunteers to promoting opportunities and ensuring consistent, inclusive practice. You’ll work closely with community groups, partners and parents/carers to widen participation and help local people develop skills, confidence and pathways into training or employment.

What we’re looking for

Someone who:

Has experience working with diverse communities or families.
Can build trust, encourage involvement and support people facing barriers.
Brings an understanding of adult learning opportunities, volunteering best practice and equalities principles.
Is confident working independently and as part of a team.
Communicates clearly and can develop positive relationships with volunteers and partners.
Is committed to inclusive practice and the values of our Family Hub model.

Additional information
Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.

We are a workplace that supports flexibility and employee wellbeing in the way we work whilst providing the best service for our customers. Team and service working arrangements are designed to support both employee work life balance and team collaboration. These would be part of your individual working arrangements alongside any personal preference agreed with your manager in advance of joining. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team and travel to and from your contractual location would be at your own expense.
