Full job description

£15 per hour | 28–40 hours per week | Immediate Start Available

The Argyle Arms is an independent neighbourhood pub in Brighton, voted Best Pub in East Sussex at the National Pub & Bar Awards 2025.

No split shifts. Monday & Tuesday kitchen closed (2 set days off as minimum).

Our food is centred around low & slow barbecue, inspired by Texas smokehouses and barbecue specials from around the world.

We're looking for a reliable and motivated chef to join our small kitchen team. No barbecue experience is required, just a good attitude, strong work ethic and a passion for food. We'll teach you everything else.

The Role

Food prep, sauces, sides & garnishes
Plating dishes to spec with consistency and attention to detail
Griddle, fryer & hot-holding equipment
Supporting service in a small, friendly team
Stock rotation, organisation & stock counts
Maintaining excellent food safety, cleanliness & hygiene standards

What We're Looking For

At least 1 year of professional kitchen experience
Reliable, organised and hardworking
Good presentation, personal hygiene and attention to detail
Comfortable working evenings and weekends
Food Safety Level 2/3 preferred (or willingness to obtain)
