Role Overview

This role is part time (15 hours per week)

We are looking for an experienced, compassionate counsellor to join our Counselling & art therapy Service, providing specialist emotional and bereavement support to people affected by palliative and life-limiting illness.

In this role, you will deliver counselling to patients, families, carers, children and young people, supporting them through anticipatory grief, loss and bereavement. You will manage a varied clinical caseload, provide one-to-one and group interventions, and offer telephone and online counselling.

Alongside your clinical work, you will help support and develop students and volunteers through mentoring, training and contribute to the ongoing improvement of the service. You will also promote education and awareness by delivering sessions to colleagues, partners and community organisations.

About You

You will be a qualified counsellor, registered with BACP, NCPS or an equivalent professional body, with experience in bereavement, palliative care or complex grief.

You will bring excellent communication skills, confidence in working with people across the lifespan, and the ability to manage a diverse and emotionally complex caseload with sensitivity and professionalism.

Experience of supporting students or volunteers, facilitating group work, and contributing to service development would be highly desirable.

Experience of working with children and young people is desirable; however, a strong interest and commitment to developing expertise in this area of practice is essential.
