Our Client | Bristol-based | UK Defence, Secure Government and AI
AI Top Talents is sourcing candidates for this role on behalf of Our Client.
Our Client is a Bristol-based, UK-sovereign SME building assured data and AI for Aerospace, Defence, Secure Government, and Intelligence customers. Its products support automated intelligence reporting, data readiness, MLOps, and RAG/agentic AI workflows.
Our Client’s solutions are designed for secure, regulated, and high-assurance environments, including air-gapped and cloud deployments. It has an active user base across UK MoD programmes and is now looking for a hands-on marketing lead to strengthen its brand, visibility, credibility, and commercial presence in the UK Defence and secure government ecosystem.
This is neither a narrow content role nor a pure strategy role. It is a first marketing hire position for someone who can move from strategy to execution, build structure where needed, and produce high-quality work without requiring a large team.
You will report to the CEO and Head of Land Programmes.
The Role
As Marketing & Growth Lead, you will implement and continuously improve Our Client’s marketing strategy. You will help explain complex concepts in AI, data assurance, edge deployment, and secure technology in language that resonates with Defence users, government buyers, primes, innovation teams, technical stakeholders, and senior decision-makers.
You will own day-to-day marketing execution across messaging, content, campaigns, the website, LinkedIn, email, events, partner marketing, sales enablement, automation, and performance reporting.
Why Join Our Client
You will be the first dedicated marketing hire in a UK-sovereign AI company already working in serious Defence and secure government environments. The role offers real ownership, direct access to senior leaders and technical specialists, and the chance to build the marketing function from an early stage.
You will have credible foundations to build from: active MoD users, relevant products, programme experience, and a validated marketing strategy. The work will span product marketing, content, campaigns, events, partner activity, sales enablement, AI-enabled workflows, and reporting.
What You Will Do
· Implement Our Client’s marketing strategy across channels, campaigns, events, content, and sales enablement.
· Develop clear product and solution messaging across automated intelligence reporting, data readiness, MLOps, RAG/agentic AI, secure deployment, and related capabilities.
· Create high-quality content for Defence, Aerospace, Secure Government, Intelligence, and regulated-sector audiences.
· Produce thought leadership, case studies, capability statements, white papers, website copy, LinkedIn content, email campaigns, and sales collateral.
· Support events, webinars, panels, partner activity, and Defence-sector ecosystem engagement.
· Represent Our Client professionally in external-facing environments, including events and partner discussions.
· Use AI tools and marketing automation to improve productivity, campaign execution, content throughput, audience research, and reporting.
· Track marketing performance and use evidence to improve messaging, campaigns, content, and channel activity.
· Work closely with leadership, technical teams, delivery teams, commercial colleagues, partners, and external PR/comms support.
· Maintain brand consistency, accuracy, and credibility across all external communications.
What Our Client Is Looking For
You should have:
· Proven B2B technology marketing experience.
· Excellent writing, editing, and content creation skills.
· The ability to simplify complex technical subjects without losing accuracy.
· Experience marketing to technical, regulated, government, Defence, Aerospace, security, enterprise, or similarly complex markets.
· Practical experience using AI tools in marketing workflows.
· Working knowledge of CRM, marketing automation, analytics, campaign reporting, and content management tools.
· Strong stakeholder management skills.
· The ability to work autonomously and take ownership of outcomes.
· Sound judgement about tone, accuracy, confidentiality, and credibility in sensitive markets.
Useful Experience
· Experience in any of the following would be valuable:
· Defence, national security, secure government, Aerospace, or Intelligence markets.
· AI, SaaS, secure cloud, edge deployment, or enterprise software.
· Account-based marketing.
· Public-sector procurement environments.
· Working with founders, senior technical teams, engineers, data scientists, or solution architects.
· Events such as DSEI, DPRTE, ADS events, techUK activity, Defence BattleLab events, or similar Defence and technology forums.
Working Style
This role will suit someone who is commercially aware, curious, diligent, clear in communication, comfortable with ambiguity, and confident in public-facing environments.
You should be able to build relationships with senior stakeholders, technical specialists, partners, and customers. You should be comfortable taking a broad objective, turning it into a practical plan, and delivering the work yourself.
What Success Looks Like
In the first 6-12 months, success will include clearer market positioning, stronger product messaging, consistent high-quality content, better website and LinkedIn engagement, stronger event follow-up, more useful sales enablement, improved campaign reporting, increased qualified inbound interest, and greater visibility for Our Client across the UK Defence and secure-government AI ecosystem.
This is a serious ownership role for a marketer who wants to help build the market presence of a UK-sovereign AI company operating in demanding, high-assurance environments.
