Community Kitchen Chef – The Waldegrave

East Harptree | £32,000–£36,000 depending on experience + TRONC | Full-time

The Waldegrave is a 15th-century, community-owned village pub, reopened in 2024 with a vision built around great food, genuine hospitality and a strong community.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, hands-on Community Kitchen Chef to lead our kitchen and help shape a seasonal, quality pub food offer.

The Role

Develop and cost seasonal menus, including Christmas.
Lead and support the kitchen team whilst maintaining high standards of food, hygiene and service.
Manage stock, waste, labour and gross profit.
Work closely with the General Manager, FOH team, suppliers and local producers.
Support events and community activities.

About You

We’re looking for a passionate, confident chef ready to take the next step. Previous Head Chef experience isn’t essential. We welcome experienced Chefs, Sous Chefs and ambitious Chefs de Partie who are keen to take on responsibility and develop.

You’ll have:

A passion for seasonal British food.
A positive, hands-on approach to leading a kitchen.
An understanding of costing, stock control and food safety.
A desire to learn, develop and take ownership with genuine interest in community and collaboration.

You won’t be expected to know everything from day one. We’ll provide support and mentoring where needed, working alongside our Executive Chef mentor and wider team.

What We Offer

£32,000–£36,000 depending on experience + approx. £2,000 TRONC, pension contributions, potential accommodation, professional development and genuine freedom to shape the food offer.

42–45 hours per week, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
