Non-Executive Director
£4,463 per annum, paid quarterly
Time commitment: around 10-12 hours per month
Brighter Places is seeking a Non-Executive Director to join our Board, with a specific focus on building safety, compliance and health and safety.
This is an exciting opportunity to join Bristol’s largest independent housing association at an important point in delivering our Corporate Strategy, Brighter Places 2030. We are focused on improving customer experience, strengthening assurance and delivering sustained investment in our homes and services.
We are looking for someone who can bring senior-level experience in building safety, health and safety, compliance, asset management, risk, assurance or another regulated environment. You will help the Board ask the right questions, understand the evidence, test assurance and keep customer safety visible in strategic decision-making.
This is a non-executive role, not an operational health and safety role. As our Board Health & Safety Champion, you will provide strategic oversight, constructive challenge and specialist insight into areas that matter deeply to our customers: safe homes, effective compliance, strong risk management and clear assurance.
You will also contribute to the work of our Audit and Risk Committee and Customer Experience Committee, helping connect assurance, risk, internal control, service quality and customer experience.
We welcome applications from people who share our purpose and values: we are human, we speak truth, we bring it, and we belong. Experience of social housing is not essential, although an understanding of regulated sectors, customer voice, complaints, service quality and safety would be valuable.
If you care about safe homes, strong governance and better outcomes for communities, we would love to hear from you.
To apply, please submit your CV and supporting statement to [email protected] or via the relevant website/agencies.
We are committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and positively welcome applications from all sections of the community. If you need any reasonable adjustments or have any specific needs we can support with in relation to your application please do let us know at the email above.
Brighter Places is a disability confident employer and any applicants who disclose a disability and meet our minimum criteria will be offered a guaranteed interview.

Pay: £4,463.00 per year
