We are seeking an experienced radiotherapy physicist with a strong interest and aptitude for working in computing and with radiotherapy digital systems. The successful candidate will work within and take a senior role within the Scientific Computing Section of the radiotherapy physics unit. There will be a specific focus on automation of
planning and adaptive radiotherapy techniques through TPS scripting.
To be appointed at band 8A the applicant requires HCPC registration and MPE status along with significant experience in computing. Appointment at band 7 would be considered for those without MPE registration with support provided to complete this prior to progression.
The successful applicant will be responsible in collaboration with other members of the SciCom team and a multidisciplinary team of Clinicians, Radiographers, Medical Physicists, and clinical engineers for the design, monitoring, development and support of clinical radiotherapy computing infrastructure to enable the provision of state-of-the art radiotherapy.
The successful candidate will maintain their radiotherapy clinical skills in areas such as dosimetry, planning, Gamma Knife, or Brachytherapy, and will contribute to the provision and development of other clinical and technical areas as per the experience of the candidate.
The Radiotherapy Physics Unit (RPU) provides a clinical scientific service to Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre (BHOC) to allow the provision of a radiotherapy service for patients. This covers a five linac external beam radiotherapy centre, HDR brachytherapy, Gamma Knife, and molecular radiotherapy. RPU is also involved in several research activities and is a beta test and reference site for a range of products.
The Scientific Computing team (SciCom), managed within RPU, provides a clinical and developmental IT service to BHOC .
The post holder is responsible in collaboration with other members of the SciCom team for the design, monitoring, development and support of clinical radiotherapy computing infrastructure to enable the provision of state-of-the-art radiotherapy. They will work closely with other clinical and support teams to specify, delivery, and support key radiotherapy systems.
The post holder will take a leading role in the TPS scripting team to make best use of the technology available as the radiotherapy service develops with the advent of adaptive radiotherapy techniques. This work will include both streamlining routine work to free
