Retro Classic Car Garages (RCCG) is a specialist classic and performance car workshop based in Bristol. We restore, rebuild and modify retro, classic vehicles & custom one-off builds.
We're looking for an experienced panel beater / prepper to join the bodyshop team. This is proper restoration prep work — getting panels and bodies into the right shape and condition for a top-quality finish. You'll be the link between the fabrication team and the paint team, and the standard of your prep is what makes or breaks the final result.
What you'll be doing:
- Panel beating — shaping, dollying, hammer-and-dolly work, shrinking and stretching to remove dents and reform panels to original shape
- Lead loading and filler work where appropriate, kept to a minimum and used properly
- Stripping cars and panels back to bare metal, identifying hidden damage and rust
- Preparing bodies and panels for paint — flatting, blocking, sanding, priming, filling
- Masking and protecting components ahead of paint
- Working with the welding/fab team on repair sections, ensuring panels line up correctly with consistent gaps
- Quality checking before paint — making sure every panel is straight, smooth and ready for the booth
What we're looking for:
- Demonstrable panel beating experience — restoration background preferred over insurance smart-repair
- Strong hand skills and the eye to see what's straight and what isn't
- Prep work to a high standard — flatting, blocking, priming, getting panels truly ready for paint
- Comfortable identifying hidden rust and damage and flagging properly rather than covering up
- Pride in the work
- Full UK driving licence
- Right to work in the UK
