Job Summary
Allisons Butchers is seeking a reliable, flexible, and customer-focused individual to join our team. This is predominantly a mobile sales assistant role operating from our dedicated mobile butcher van, "On YOUR Block".
You will be the face of our business, bringing our products directly to the community in Plymouth and surrounding areas. While the role is focused on mobile sales, you will also work flexibly to support our retail shop as required by the business and also complete delivery driver roles where necessary.
Key Responsibilities
Mobile Sales & Shop Duties:
- Customer Service: Providing friendly, professional service and answering product queries from the mobile van and in-store.
- Transactions: Processing customer payments using the Point of Sale (POS) system and handling cash.
- Shop Support: Assisting with wrapping, stocking the van and shop, and ensuring the van is organised and date checked.
- Hygiene: Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, including end-of-day cleaning duties for both the vehicle and shop premises.
Driving & Delivery Duties:
- Van Operation: Safely driving the mobile butcher van to designated locations and events.
- Vehicle Care: Performing basic daily checks (fuel, fluids, and cleanliness) and reporting any defects.
- Manual Handling: Safely loading and unloading products; the role involves lifting and standing for extended periods.
Requirements
- Age & Licensing: Must be over 21 with a full, valid UK driving licence (essential for insurance).
- Experience: Previous experience driving a van is strongly advised; driving ability and skills will be tested during the interview process.
- Local Knowledge: A good working knowledge of the Plymouth area.
- Personal Attributes: We need a reliable person who can use their initiative, follow guidance, and communicate effectively with the team.
- Certification: Level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene for Retail (training will be provided if you do not already hold this).
- Manage time efficiently to meet daily targets for sales and deliveries.
Working Hours
- Rota: 16+ hours per week with a flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holiday cover.
Pay: From £12.71 per hour
