Berry Head Hotel is seeking a Maintenance / groundskeeper to join our team in Brixham. This is an exciting roll with no two days the same. When the hotel is busy it is all about general maintenance, proactive maintenance and appearance. When the hotel is quiet its time for project work such as replacing bathrooms, decorating, and refurbishment.
Essential Duties:
- Tidy and ensure High standards of external appearance of the property
- Perform general maintenance and repairs internally and externally to a high standard
- Perform daily tasks including but not limited to: checking pools and hot tubs, (Training given) Leaf clearing, performing reactive maintenance in the maintenance book, testing the fire alarm, emergency lighting, fire escapes weekly and project work.
- Keep External areas of the facility clean, safe, tidy and presentable
- Perform daily walks of the site, identifying hazards, rectifying and reporting.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager as needed.
Skills.
Must be competent and able to work safely with power tools, and have a basic knowledge of or happy to learn plumbing, tiling, painting, carpentry and have a keen eye for detail. The successful applicant will be able to source materials and maintain a stock for reactive maintenance, spot and plan the repair of issues before they are a problem .
A successful candidate will be on the lookout for opportunities to repair, and improve items or areas on site, able to work with others on projects, or alone on simple maintenance tasks. Be able to make safe aesthetically good temporary repairs where time does not permit a permanent solution then follow up with permanent repair later. As a maintenance person we do not expect the applicant to be perfect in every skillset but to be able to use a spirit level, cut material in a straight line, cut in paint, silicone neatly etc and be aware of time constraints within a Hotel environment. A good DIYer with a can do attitude will do well.
Qualifications: Required Knowledge:
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high level of attention to detail
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Ability to communicate effectively with management, co-workers, customers, and residents
Shift pattern is 8AM until 4PM 5 days per week. There is some potential for flexibility in the working hours .
Extra Hours may be available if required
