Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Fire Stopper to join our construction and safety team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing fire-resistant barriers and ensuring compliance with safety standards across various building sites. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a background in construction, carpentry, or related trades to utilise their specialised skills in a vital safety capacity. Responsibilities
- Install fire-stopping materials in accordance with project specifications and safety regulations
- Work alongside other trades such as roofing, plumbing, electrical, and masonry teams to ensure fire safety measures are properly integrated
- Use hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment to cut, shape, and install fire-resistant barriers
- Interpret schematics and technical drawings to accurately execute fire-stopping tasks
- Assist in the preparation of surfaces through plastering or construction painting as required for effective fire barrier installation
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment to promote safety and efficiency on site
- Conduct inspections of installed fire-stopping systems to ensure compliance with standards and codes
- Collaborate with site supervisors to identify potential hazards and implement corrective measures
Requirements
- Proven experience in construction-related trades such as roofing, plumbing, welding, electrical work, carpentry, masonry or similar fields
- Familiarity with schematics, technical drawings, and installation instructions
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment safely and effectively
- Knowledge of fire safety regulations and building codes relevant to fire-stopping procedures
- Ability to read technical schematics and interpret construction plans accurately
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in executing complex tasks
- Prior experience in construction painting or plastering is advantageous but not essential
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team within a fast-paced environment
- Valid health & safety certifications or willingness to undertake relevant training is preferred
