Exciting Herdsperson Opportunity – Modern Dairy Farm | Somerset
We're looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Herdsperson to join our friendly, progressive dairy team near Taunton.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with livestock, takes pride in high standards of animal care, and wants to develop their career on a modern, well-equipped dairy farm.
About Us
We milk 550 Holsteins and 150 Jerseys through a modern 40:40 Boumatic parlour. Our high-yield housed herd supplies milk to Cathedral City Cheese (Saputo).
The dairy has been purpose-built within the last eight years and offers excellent facilities, modern equipment, and a supportive team environment where everyone works together to achieve high herd performance and outstanding animal welfare.
The Role
Your responsibilities will include:
- Daily milking and parlour management
- Monitoring herd health, fertility and cow performance
- Identifying and treating sick cows in line with farm protocols
- Assisting with calving and fresh cow management
- Maintaining excellent standards of animal welfare, hygiene and biosecurity
- Supporting feeding and bedding routines
- Working closely with the farm owners and team to continually improve herd performance
About You
We're looking for someone who is:
- Positive, reliable and hardworking
- Passionate about dairy farming and animal welfare
- Observant with good attention to detail
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Keen to learn and develop new skills
Previous dairy experience is preferred, although training can be provided for the right person with the right attitude.
A full UK driving licence is essential. Tractor and telehandler experience would be an advantage but is not essential.

- 10 working days over a 2-week rota (every other weekend off plus one weekday off)
