Evesham Golf Club is a friendly welcoming club founded in 1894. It is a 9 hole parkland course with 18 tees. It is situated 3 miles from Evesham Town and border's the River Avon on it's southern boundary.
We are currently seeking an experienced and qualified Greenkeeper to join our greenkeeping team as Deputy Head. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the course to the highest standards, which includes operation of turf care machinery, maintenance (greens, tees, surrounds, fairways, rough, semi rough, and bunkers) and landscaping. In addition you should have some knowledge of applying top dressing, seed and fertilizers. Under the instruction of the Head Greenkeeper you should be able to set up the golf course, including changing holes, divoting, moving tee markers, marking out drop zones and GUR areas and hazards etc. The position requires a high degree of physical fitness, a commitment to hard work and a knowledge of herbicides, pesticides, fertilisers and turf maintenance.
This would be a good opportunity for an experienced Greenkeeper or a recently qualified greenkeeper.
Salary Range- £27 - 29K plus overtime depending on knowledge and experience
Qualifications & Experience
The successful candidate must be a good team worker, but also be able to work safely on their own, and able to operate the full range of equipment associated with the post.
The ideal candidate will have
- Have a qualification to NVQ level 2
- A sound knowledge of Green Keeping practices.
- PA 1.2.6A Spraying certificates.
- Some knowledge of fertilisers, preventative treatments and when they should be used.
- Possess high standards of course preparation and detail.
- A good knowledge and understanding of health and safety.
- Able to work a weekend and bank holiday rota system.
- Full driving licence.
- Good communication skills.
- It would also be useful but not essential to have certification in Chainsaw skills
