Electrical Design Estimator
Package:

Location: Ideally HQ in Hereford, some flexibility for hybrid or, for the right level of experience, remote working, occasional expensed travel to customers across the UK & Internationally.

Denco is a renowned leader in the design and manufacture of bespoke fluid recirculation systems, oil lube & cooling, water cooling, filtration and PLC control systems.
The role:
As an Electrical Design Estimator with the Denco/Hellan Group, you will play a key role in shaping winning proposals by analysing project requirements, developing accurate cost models, and collaborating closely with engineering and commercial teams. Your work will ensure that solutions are both commercially competitive and technically compliant, meeting client expectations and industry standards.
This is a detail-oriented role requiring strong analytical skills, commercial awareness, and the ability to manage multiple tenders within tight deadlines
Main Functions: of this role is to support the BDMs, system application engineers, projects and site services teams in the technical evaluations, design and quoting of electrical control panels and standalone systems.
Key Responsibilities
· Project Analysis: Review tender documents, specifications, and drawings to accurately assess the scope of electrical works.
· Estimate Preparation: Prepare detailed and comprehensive estimates for projects of varying sizes and complexities, developing accurate cost estimates for electrical control panels, automation and installations to fully support system projects.
· Cost Calculation: Calculate material, labour, and time requirements for each project.
· Vendor Liaison: Communicate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing and ensure cost-effectiveness. Analyse and evaluate subcontractor/supplier quotes, negotiate terms, and ensure compliance with project requirements.
· Collaboration: Work closely with systems application engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure estimates meet project requirements and develop budgets and schedules. Collaborate with the wider in-house team and make site visits where required to obtain accurate pricing and quotations.
· Market Awareness: Keep up to date with industry terms, regulations, and material costs to ensure accurate pricing and competitive negotiations.
· Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and provide solutions to mitigate them.
· Documentation: Prepare and submit tender documentation and proposals.
Skills & Experience:
· Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in electrical estimating, preferably in the industrial sector, with proven experience as an Electrical Estimator.
· Strong knowledge of electrical systems, including cabling, containment, switchgear, and associated installation methods
· Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering documentation
- Demonstrated ability to price for electrical work of varying value and complexities.
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills to collaborate effectively with stakeholders.
- Proficiency in using electrical estimating software and tools.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, along with the ability to work under pressure.
- Sound experience of Auto Cad linked to electrical experience.
- Relevant technical qualifications or a degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related field are desirable/preferred but not necessary.
Qualifications
Relevant electrical HNC/HND qualifications, or equivalent are desirable
You must possess a UK driving licence and current passport, as although the position is ideally office based, there will be need for site visits, some potentially overseas
