About the role

Wheatley Care West Lothian Supported Living Service provides high-quality, person-centred support to adults with learning disabilities, autism and complex support needs, enabling them to live independently in their own homes and be active members of their local communities. Our dedicated team promotes choice, dignity and inclusion, working alongside the people we support to help them achieve their personal goals, develop life skills and maintain positive wellbeing. We are committed to delivering compassionate, tailored support that empowers individuals to live fulfilling and meaningful lives.

Who are we looking for?

The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar support environment and a sound understanding of the Health and Social Care Standards. They will work in a trauma‑informed, objective and non‑discriminatory way, recognising the impact of trauma and supporting individuals with empathy, dignity and respect. The postholder will demonstrate a strong commitment to working positively with a diverse range of people, supporting individuals to live safe, fulfilling and independent lives. This will include

Help individuals feel safe, respected and supported to live comfortably in their own homes
Build strong, positive relationships that promote confidence, wellbeing and independence
Collaborate with people we support to achieve their personal goals and desired outcomes
Listen carefully to individual needs and take appropriate action to address any health, wellbeing or safety concerns
Uphold and champion people’s rights, dignity, privacy and choice in line with National Care Standards
Act as an advocate for individuals when liaising with external agencies, professionals and services
Maintain accurate, detailed and up-to-date support documentation and records
Encourage active participation in care planning, reviews and the ongoing development of services
Support individuals to engage in everyday activities, pursue their interests and live fulfilling lives of their choosing
