Overview
Kways Kitchen is a new soul food restaurant based in the kitchen of a pub offering a dine in service to locals who decide to sit in or customers who opt for a delivery or takeaway. We are seeking a motivated Kitchen Assistant/Trainee Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about food preparation and hospitality to develop their skills in a professional environment. The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience in food production, kitchen management, and culinary techniques, with the potential to progress into more senior roles. Prior kitchen or restaurant experience is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided. The Individual must be comfortable working in a fast pace environment This position is paid and suitable for those eager to build a career in the culinary industry.
Duties
- Assist in food preparation and cooking under the supervision of senior chefs
- Support the organisation and cleanliness of the kitchen environment
- Help with food safety procedures and maintain hygiene standards according to regulations
- Contribute to food presentation and ensure quality standards are met
- Assist with inventory management and stock organisation
- Support team members during busy service periods, including serving customers when required
- Participate in training sessions to develop culinary skills and knowledge of food production processes
- Supervise junior staff or trainees as part of team management responsibilities when appropriate
Experience
- Previous experience in a kitchen, restaurant, or hospitality setting is advantageous but not mandatory
- Familiarity with food safety standards and hygiene practices is preferred
- Experience in food preparation, cooking, or serving roles will be beneficial
- Demonstrated leadership or supervising experience is a plus for career progression opportunities
- Knowledge of food production techniques and culinary practices will support development in this role
- Strong team management skills and the ability to work effectively within a busy environment are desirable
