Neetside Surgery is a welcoming and supportive GP practice in the heart of Bude, providing high-quality healthcare services to approximately 6,500 patients. Due to a staff relocation, we are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys helping people, thrives in a busy environment, and wants to play an important role in supporting patients and healthcare professionals. Previous experience within a GP practice is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided for the right candidate.
About the role:
What you’ll be doing:
No two days at Neetside are ever the same — it is a fast-paced, busy environment and this role requires excellent organisation skills, a positive approach and the ability to cope under pressure.
The successful candidate will support the smooth running of the practice by undertaking a range of duties, including:
- Welcoming and assisting patients both in person and over the telephone
- Managing patient enquiries in a professional and compassionate manner
- Booking appointments and supporting patients to access services
- Processing prescriptions in line with practice procedures
- Typing and processing referral letters and other clinical correspondence
- Managing incoming hospital correspondence and clinical documents
- Updating patient records accurately and confidentially
- Supporting clinicians and colleagues with administrative tasks
- Undertaking general office and administrative duties as required

Part-time position of 30 hours per week:
The shift requirement are listed below: Please note that during the initial training period, hours may vary. One hour lunch break on full day shifts.
Tuesday 8am – 5pm
Wednesday 2pm - 6pm
Thursday 8am - 6pm
Friday 8:30am – 6:30pm
Flexibility is essential, as occasional additional hours may be required to support the practice during periods of annual leave, sickness absence, training, or operational need.
Our opening hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 6:30pm.

Essential requirements:
· GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics at Grade C/4 or above
· Good general IT skills, including email and word processing
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Ability to prioritise workload and work accurately under pressure
· Ability to complete mandatory training, most of which is completed online
· Evidence of the right to work in the United Kingdom
Desirable Requirements
- Experience working in an administrative or customer service role
- Experience working within a healthcare setting
- Knowledge of NHS services
- Experience using SystmOne or other clinical systems

Stage 2: Assessment and Final Interview

- A further interview/discussion with members of the practice team
These assessments are designed to support us in identifying candidates who possess the skills necessary for the role and to ensure we provide appropriate training and support where required.
