Reports To: GP Partners / Practice Manager

Practice Overview

Burnham Surgery is a well-established, patient-focused GP practice committed to delivering high-quality primary care to the local community in Essex. We work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to provide accessible, safe, and effective healthcare services.

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate General Practitioner (GP) to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive medical care to a diverse patient population, ensuring high standards of patient safety and satisfaction. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, contributing to community health and well-being. The position is paid and suitable for qualified medical professionals committed to delivering excellent primary care services.

Role Purpose

To provide high-quality, patient-centered medical care to the registered population of Burnham Surgery, managing a varied caseload and supporting continuous service improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver consultations (face-to-face, telephone, and online)
Diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions
Prescribe medications and review treatments
Manage long-term conditions (e.g. diabetes, COPD, hypertension)
Undertake home visits where appropriate
Refer patients to secondary care where required
Maintain accurate clinical records
Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team
Participate in clinical meetings
Support safeguarding responsibilities
Contribute to QOF and quality improvement initiatives
Adhere to CQC and NHS standards

Skills and Competencies

Strong clinical and diagnostic skills
Excellent communication skills
Ability to manage workload effectively
Patient-centered approach
Teamworking skills
IT proficiency (EMIS/SystmOne)
Commitment to CPD

Qualifications and Experience

MBBS or equivalent
Full GMC registration and license to practice
Inclusion on the GP Register
Primary care experience (desirable)
Evidence of CPD

Working Pattern

Flexible sessions and hours to be agreed, including a mix of clinical and administrative duties.
