Be the person who makes things happen.
Farmers Guide is a busy, independent agricultural media business encompassing magazines, digital platforms, video, events and classified advertising.
We're looking for an exceptional Executive Assistant & Business Coordinator to work closely with one of our directors.
This isn't a traditional PA position.
One day you might be organising meetings and travel. The next you could be coordinating a new starter, chasing an important supplier, preparing figures for a meeting, organising equipment for a video shoot or making sure actions agreed with the sales team actually happen.
The objective is simple: take ownership of the things that don't need the director to personally do them.
The role
You'll work directly with the director across virtually every area of the business, helping to organise priorities, coordinate projects and make sure things get finished.
Responsibilities will include:
- Managing diaries, meetings, travel and appointments
- Keeping track of projects, deadlines and actions
- Following up actions from meetings and ensuring they are completed
- Coordinating new starters, equipment and onboarding
- Liaising with suppliers and resolving day-to-day issues
- Preparing reports, figures and information ahead of meetings
- Assisting with recruitment and interview coordination
- Organising events, filming days and business travel
- Researching suppliers, opportunities and potential partners
- Helping coordinate projects across sales, editorial, marketing and production
- Taking ownership of general business administration
- Spotting problems and dealing with them before they reach the director
You'll also become a central point of coordination within the business, working with different departments to keep projects moving.
Who we're looking for
Experience as a PA or Executive Assistant would be useful, but attitude and ability are more important to us than having the perfect CV.
You'll need to be:
- Exceptionally organised
- Proactive rather than waiting to be asked
- Confident chasing people and getting answers
- Comfortable working directly with senior management
- Able to prioritise when ten things are happening at once
- Technically confident with everyday business software
- A strong written and verbal communicator
- Discreet and trustworthy
- Practical and willing to get stuck in
- Comfortable taking responsibility and making decisions
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who sees something that needs doing and thinks:
"I'll sort that."
What this role isn't
We're not looking for someone simply to manage a diary and take notes.
We're looking for someone who can become a trusted right hand to the director — taking work off their desk, protecting their time and making sure priorities across the business keep moving.
There will be plenty of variety, considerable responsibility and the opportunity to become involved in almost every part of the company.
