The Opportunity
We are looking for an ambitious Assistant Maintenance Engineer to join our busy engineering and maintenance team. Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, you will work alongside experienced multi-skilled engineers to maintain, repair, and optimize high-speed processing and packaging machinery. This is a hands-on role with a clear pathway for career progression.
Key Responsibilities
- Reactive & Planned Maintenance: Assist with breakdowns and routine PPM (Planned Preventative Maintenance) to minimise plant downtime.
- Continuous Improvement: Help identify machinery faults and support projects to improve production efficiency.
- Compliance: Ensure all engineering tasks strictly adhere to site health, safety, and food hygiene regulations (e.g., GMP, HACCP).
- Equipment: Work with conveyors, packaging machines, and automated processing lines.
What We’re Looking For
Desirable Qualifications:
- GCSE Maths and English (Grade 4/C or above)
- Level 2 qualification or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing or a related subject
Experience:
- Some hands-on experience within manufacturing, general labouring, assembly or mechanical setting
- Previous food manufacturing, packaging or FMCG experience would be highly preferred
