Full job description

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Podiatrist to join our healthcare team, providing expert foot and ankle care to diverse patient populations. In this role, you will diagnose and treat a wide range of podiatric conditions, develop personalised treatment plans, and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Your expertise will help improve mobility, alleviate pain, and enhance quality of life for individuals across various care settings. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference through clinical excellence and patient-centred care.

The clinic

The candidate will join our team of MSK physiotherapists, osteopaths, sports therapists and occupational therapists to provide the very best patient care. An interest in MSK podiatry and MSK health as a whole is therefore crucial. The clinic already utilises technologies like Gait and Motion Footscan and PHITS orthotics which the chosen candidate will have training and access to. An on site gym and studio allows for further rehab of foot and ankle conditions and clinic rooms designed to host services like joint injection therapy provide an ideal clinical set up.

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients’ foot, ankle, and lower limb health, utilising clinical examination techniques.
Diagnose conditions such as bunions, heel spurs, diabetic foot ulcers, ingrown toenails, and sports injuries.
Develop and implement individualised treatment plans that may include medication administration, physical therapy, orthotic fitting, or minor surgical procedures.
Provide patient education on foot health maintenance, injury prevention, and proper footwear choices.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including osteopaths, physiotherapists surgeons, physical therapists, and nursing staff to coordinate holistic patient care.
Document patient histories, treatment progress notes, and follow-up plans accurately in medical records.
Stay current with advances in podiatric medicine through ongoing education and clinical research initiatives.

Skills

Strong knowledge of human anatomy related to the lower extremities and foot biomechanics.
Proven ability to deliver compassionate patient care.
Experience managing complex cases involving critical decision-making.
Knowledge of public health principles relevant to diabetic foot management and preventive care strategies.
Excellent communication skills for patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Ideal extra skills

Independent prescribing qualification
Experience in minor surgical procedures, including nail surgery
Experience in local anaesthetic techniques
Injection therapy experience
Musculoskeletal podiatry
Gait analysis and orthotic prescription
Ultrasound assessment/diagnostics
