Your role

Adult skills has a vital role to play in helping Greater Manchester residents build confidence, progress in work, access new opportunities and support the city-region’s economy.

As Strategic Programme Officer, you will help support the delivery and development of adult skills activity across Greater Manchester. A key part of the role will be building strong relationships with colleagues, colleges, training providers, local authorities, employers, community partners and government departments, helping to make sure delivery is well planned, joined up and focused on improving outcomes for adult learners.

This is a varied role with stakeholder engagement and commissioning at its heart. You could be working with providers to understand delivery challenges, bringing partners together around shared priorities, supporting commissioning activity, shaping guidance, preparing briefings or reviewing progress against outcomes. It would suit someone who enjoys working across different organisations, building trusted relationships and helping turn strategy into practical adult skills delivery that makes a difference for residents, communities and employers across Greater Manchester.

About you

We are looking for someone who is organised, collaborative and proactive, with the confidence to build positive relationships with a range of stakeholders and the project management skills to help keep work moving forward.

You may have experience in adult education, skills funding, provider delivery, programme support, policy, commissioning or partnership working. You may also bring transferable experience from another setting. What matters is that you can communicate clearly, manage competing priorities, keep track of actions and risks, and work confidently with different stakeholders to understand issues, share evidence and support good decisions.

You will bring care, curiosity and attention to detail, alongside a willingness to learn and support others. We value people who are collaborative, inclusive and calm when things are busy; people who can work independently but also know when to involve others.
