The role
As an Information Security Lead, you’ll play a vital role in safeguarding critical infrastructure and major defence programmes. Working across key projects within the Defence Nuclear Enterprise, you’ll lead the delivery of robust information security assurance, ensuring systems, data, and operations remain secure and compliant.
Day-to-day, you’ll collaborate with technical specialists, programme teams, and external stakeholders to manage risks, provide assurance, and embed strong security practices. It’s an opportunity to develop your expertise in cyber and information security while contributing to high-profile, safety-critical programmes.
Leading information security assurance across multiple major infrastructure projects
Developing and maintaining assurance plans aligned with recognised frameworks
Supporting audits, bids, and ongoing security improvement initiatives
Managing security risks, controls, and evidence to support compliance
Engaging with stakeholders, including Ministry of Defence representatives, on assurance activities
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.
Essential experience of the Information Security Lead
Proven experience in information security assurance within regulated or defence environments
Strong understanding of UK security standards, including government and defence frameworks
Experience producing security documentation and assurance artefacts
Ability to manage and mitigate risks in complex environments
Strong communication skills with the ability to engage a range of stakeholders
Qualifications for the Information Security Lead
Relevant professional experience in information security, risk management, or cyber security
Certifications such as Certified Information Security Professional, Certified Information Security Manager, or ISO 27001 Lead Auditor/Implementer are desirable
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check security clearance for this role.
