About the Role
Reporting to the Front Office Manager, you will help lead the day-to-day operation of Reception, ensuring every guest receives a warm welcome and outstanding service from reservation through to departure.
You will support and motivate the Front Office team, helping to maintain the high standards of service that make Bowood one of Wiltshire's most highly regarded luxury hotels.
This is a permanent position, ideally full-time, although part-time applications will also be considered.
Working Pattern
Full time or part time, working Monday to Sunday on a rota basis, rotating shifts between 6:45am – 3:15pm and 2:30pm – 11:00pm. Weekend and Bank Holiday working is required.
Due to our rural location and shift patterns, reliable transport is essential.
This role is an excellent commute from Calne, Chippenham, Devizes, Melksham, Corsham, Swindon, Marlborough, Royal Wootton Bassett, Bath, Frome, Trowbridge, Warminster, Lyneham, Pewsey and surrounding areas across Wiltshire and Somerset.
Key Responsibilities
As Assistant Front Office Manager, you will:
- Support the Front Office Manager in the day-to-day operation of Reception.
- Lead, coach and motivate the Front Office team to deliver outstanding guest service.
- Ensure smooth and efficient check-in and check-out procedures.
- Manage guest enquiries, reservations and bookings across accommodation, spa, golf and dining.
- Maximise room occupancy and revenue opportunities while maintaining exceptional guest satisfaction.
- Resolve guest queries and complaints professionally and efficiently.
- Work closely with Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Spa, Golf and other departments to ensure a seamless guest experience.
- Assist with team rotas, training and maintaining operational standards.
- Complete reporting and administrative duties accurately.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and brand standards.
About You
You will be successful in this role if you have:
- Previous experience as an Assistant Front Office Manager, Front Office Supervisor, Reception Supervisor, Senior Receptionist or similar hotel leadership role.
- Excellent customer service and guest relations skills.
- Experience supervising or leading a hotel reception team.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Confidence managing reservations and Front Office administration.
- A calm, professional approach in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
- Experience using hotel property management systems (Opera PMS would be an advantage but is not essential).
- Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and Bank Holidays.
- A genuine passion for hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences.
