Mobile Mechanical Calibration Engineer

DEPARTMENT/SECTION: Electrical Calibration Engineer (RF Specialist) (Full Time)

REPORTS TO: Technical Manager

LOCATION: Letchworth Garden City

DM offers a fully-managed, precision calibration service, devised to allow our customers to benefit from industry-leading calibration practices. Delivered through our mobile, on-site units or UKAS-approved laboratory, we keep our customers operating with minimal downtime, ensuring their equipment is accurate, compliant and fully audit-traceable.

JOB SUMMARY / OVERALL PURPOSE OF ROLE:

To perform the calibration, adjustment, and where appropriate repair of a wide range of DC to RF instrumentation, with a strong emphasis on RF and high-frequency measurement equipment, within a UKAS accredited laboratory operating to ISO/IEC 17025.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES:

Carry out calibration of electrical/electronic RF instrumentation including signal generators, spectrum analysers, RF power meters and components.
Apply RF measurement principles including frequency, amplitude, impedance, attenuation and modulation.
Diagnose faults and perform repair to component level where required.
Review and develop calibration procedures in line with ISO/IEC 17025.
Recommend improvements to RF calibration methods and measurement techniques.
Support maintenance of laboratory reference standards ensuring traceability.
Work with Laboratory Manager to prioritise workload and resolve technical issues.
Participate in training and development activities.
Ensure compliance with QMS, quality objectives, and health & safety standards.
Attend customer sites as and when required.
Undertake any associated additional duties as required by the Laboratory Manager.
Maintain a clean and organised work environment.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

ONC, HNC or higher in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a UKAS accredited laboratory
Strong RF/microwave calibration and measurement experience
Knowledge of spectrum analysers, network analysers, signal generators, power meters and sensors, VSWR analysers and oscilloscopes.
Understanding of measurement uncertainty and traceability

Desirable:

RF repair and diagnostics experience
UKAS signatory
EMC related experience
DC/LF calibration experience
MetCal/MetTeam experience
