About the role
TECS Coordinator – Technology Enabled Care
Cambridgeshire | Hybrid working | SO1
We’re looking for a TECS Coordinator to join Cambridgeshire’s Technology Enabled Care Service. Depending on where you’ve seen similar roles before, you might also think of this as Assistive Technology, Care Technology, or Digital Care coordination.
Whatever the label, the essence of the role is the same: listening, understanding, analysing and finding the right mix of support — sometimes practical, sometimes technological, often both.
Why TECS is an exciting place to work
Recent TECS work has included exploring activity monitoring to help spot deterioration earlier, using smarter falls technology to reduce avoidable emergency responses, and finding practical tech‑based solutions for people living with dementia or neurodivergent needs. We’ve also tested how everyday and mainstream technology can support independence, confidence and wellbeing — often in ways people don’t expect. We’ve even created a VR/AR version of our Smart Flat, enabling professionals and members of our community to get “hands on” with the technologies we provide from anywhere!
This is a role for someone who enjoys learning, experimenting and improving how services work — not just delivering them the same way forever.

What will you be doing?
Technology Enabled Care (or TECS) is about using technology alongside human support to help people live more independently, safely and confidently. This might be something simple, like technology that alerts someone if a person falls. Or it might be more creative — using smart devices, sensors or everyday technology to spot changes early, reduce risk, support memory, maintain routines, or give reassurance to families and carers.
Crucially, this is not an I.T role; it’s a people focused role where technology is used as a tool to improve real lives.
This role is about people first — and problem-solving with purpose.
You’ll speak with residents, families and professionals to understand what’s really going on. You’ll explore options, connect people to support, and work closely with colleagues to problem solve. You’ll keep clear records, work across systems, and escalate safeguarding concerns when needed.

They talked about patience — staying calm when situations are complex or emotionally charged. They talked about being proactive, noticing when something isn’t quite right and taking action. They also talked about being analytical and creative at the same time: weighing up information, spotting patterns, and thinking beyond standard answers. They talked about enjoying technology not as an expert, but as someone curious; a bit of a gadgeteer- someone who enjoys learning how things work and imagining how they might help.
