Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Pipefitter/welder to join our team on a self employed basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing piping systems across various industrial and commercial settings. This role requires a strong understanding of welding techniques, schematics, and mechanical systems, along with the ability to work safely and efficiently in a dynamic environment. The position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a background in construction, plumbing, or maintenance to develop their skills further.
Work will be with London and the South East.
Duties
- Read and interpret technical schematics and blueprints to determine piping layouts and specifications.
- Fabricate, assemble, and install piping systems using appropriate hand tools, power tools, welding equipment (MIG, TIG, and other welding techniques), soldering, and cutting tools.
- Perform welding tasks on various materials, including welding, ensuring compliance with safety standards and quality requirements.
- Conduct routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on existing piping systems to ensure optimal operation.
- Measure and cut pipes accurately using measuring devices and cutting tools; assemble components with precision.
- Troubleshoot issues within piping systems using mechanical knowledge and basic math skills to determine solutions.
- Assist in the installation of plumbing fixtures and related components as required.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to health and safety regulations at all times.
- Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently within designated timeframes.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Pipefitter/welder or in a similar role within construction or maintenance environments.
- Proficiency in MIG welding, TIG welding, soldering, and other welding techniques relevant to welding standards.
- Strong understanding of schematics, technical drawings, and blueprints.
- Mechanical knowledge related to piping systems, plumbing, assembly, and general maintenance.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment.
- Ability to read basic math measurements accurately for pipe cutting and fitting tasks.
- Experience with system installation, repair work, and troubleshooting within industrial or commercial settings is desirable.
- Good physical condition with the ability to work in confined spaces or at heights as required.
- Relevant certifications or qualifications in welding or pipefitting are advantageous but not mandatory.
