The Senior Journalist Reporter will be part of the BBC Wales News and Current Affairs team, focusing on South-East Wales. The successful candidate will be required to find and deliver original, agenda-setting stories. These stories should be delivered digitally first, as well as for BBC Wales News television and radio programmes.
The Senior Journalist Reporter will be familiar with using creative and clear storytelling techniques to communicate stories to audiences. They will also be expected to contribute live from locations. Representing diverse communities and delivering stories that interest all parts of the audience will be essential, ensuring BBC Wales content is relevant to all parts of society.
The successful candidate will be expected to work flexibly, responding to breaking news as well as working on planned stories.

This exciting and challenging role involves delivering our digital priorities and creating content for broadcast across our television and radio services, as well as broadcasting live in both Welsh and English.
You will have the opportunity to produce stories and develop original ideas that work across multiple platforms, using a variety of tools to tell stories in the most appropriate way. Training will be provided where needed.
The successful candidate will often collaborate with other correspondents and work closely with planning teams, commissioning teams, editors, and day producers.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- Experience reporting on original stories and a detailed understanding of BBC Wales requirements
- Ability to find original stories and produce them to a very high standard, demonstrating creative and visual judgment
- Understanding of social media platforms and how to produce and adapt stories, showing awareness of audience needs
- Ability to broadcast live in Welsh and English
- Strong knowledge of editorial policies and awareness of legal considerations
- Ability to work well as part of a team and contribute to making the newsroom a great place to work
DESIRABLE :
- Ability to film and edit to a high standard
- Ability to craft digital stories using Optimo software
- Strong knowledge of South-East Wales communities
