Secondment opportunity for internal candidates (with the agreement of their manager) – 2 years

Fixed Term for external candidates.

Newport is focused on improving outcomes for adults who rely on our care and support. That means not just delivering services, but making sure they are safe, consistent and of a high standard across the board and this role is central to that work!

As our Quality Assurance Lead, you will take ownership of how quality is understood, measured and improved across Adult Services. You will help ensure practice meets the standards expected, while supporting teams to learn, improve and deliver better outcomes for people in Newport.

The role:

You will lead the development and implementation of a clear, consistent Quality Assurance approach across Adult Services.

This includes coordinating audit activity, reviewing practice, and working closely with managers and teams to identify strengths and where things could be improved. You will use data, feedback and professional insight to build a clear picture of performance and help shape how our services develop.

You will:

Lead and embed a Quality Assurance framework across services
Carry out and coordinate audits, identifying patterns and trends
Work with managers to improve practice and monitor impact
Provide constructive challenges and support at a senior level
Use feedback from adults and families to inform service development
Contribute to planning and commissioning through analysis and insight

You will work across multiple teams, building relationships and supporting a consistent approach to quality, learning and improvement.

Working here:

You will work in a service that is reviewing how practice is being delivered, using feedback and insight to improve how support is provided.

There is a strong focus on collaboration, openness and learning. You will work closely with managers and senior leaders, with scope to influence how services develop and how quality is embedded day to day.

What you will bring:

A professional qualification in Social Work and registration with Social Care Wales (or equivalent)
Experience of quality assurance, audit or practice improvement within social care
A strong understanding of adult social care, safeguarding and statutory frameworks
The ability to analyse complex information and turn this into clear, practical insight
Confidence working at a senior level, providing both support and challenge
Strong communication and influencing skills

It would also help if you have:

Experience of developing or implementing quality assurance frameworks
Knowledge of inspection and regulatory requirements

Developing in this role:

This is an opportunity to take a lead role in shaping how quality is measured and improved across a whole service.

You will build experience in influencing practice at scale, working with senior leaders, and using data and insight to support service development. The role offers scope to strengthen both your technical knowledge and your leadership capability.
