The Role: Kitchen Porter
Rose Castle is seeking a reliable, hardworking and positive Kitchen Porter to support our kitchen team during weddings, retreats, celebrations, corporate events and residential programmes.
This is a vital role within our hospitality operation. Working alongside Chef Noel and the wider kitchen team, the Kitchen Porter helps ensure the kitchen operates smoothly, safely and efficiently, maintaining the high standards expected at one of Cumbria's most distinctive hospitality destinations.
The successful candidate will take pride in maintaining a clean and organised working environment, supporting the chefs and contributing to the delivery of exceptional guest experiences across the estate.
No two days at Rose Castle are ever quite the same. From intimate dinners and wedding celebrations to international retreats and corporate gatherings, our Kitchen Porters play an important part in every guest journey.
Kitchen Operations
- Maintain cleanliness throughout all kitchen, wash-up and food preparation areas
- Operate dishwashing equipment safely and efficiently
- Ensure crockery, cutlery, glassware and kitchen equipment are cleaned and stored correctly
- Keep kitchen floors, surfaces and storage areas clean and organised at all times
- Assist with waste disposal and recycling procedures in line with company standards
Supporting the Kitchen Team
- Assist chefs with basic food preparation when required
- Receive and store deliveries appropriately
- Support stock rotation and storage procedures
- Help maintain food safety and hygiene standards across the kitchen operation
- Ensure all equipment is handled safely and reported if maintenance is required
Collaboration & Operational Support
- Work closely with chefs and front-of-house teams to support service delivery
- Assist during weddings, events and busy service periods as required
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude throughout every shift
- Support a collaborative team culture across the estate
- Act as an ambassador for Rose Castle in all interactions
Experience
- Previous kitchen porter or hospitality experience is desirable but not essential
- A willingness to learn and develop within a professional kitchen environment
- Understanding of food hygiene and kitchen safety practices is beneficial
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy environment
- Strong attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness
