Session Supervisor
Hours: 13.5 hours per week (3 evenings per week – working pattern to be agreed). Occasional additional hours may be available to meet service needs.
Location: On-site at our youth provision.
About the Role
We are looking for a committed, organised and enthusiastic Session Supervisor to oversee the safeand effective delivery of our evening youth sessions.
Working as part of our youth work team, you will provide day-to-day leadership during sessions, ensuring young people are welcomed into a safe, inclusive and engaging environment . You will support youth workers and volunteers, manage the smooth running of activities and take responsibility for safeguarding and health and safety throughout each session.
This role is ideal for someone with experience ofworking with children and young people who is confident leading a team and committed to providing high-quality youth work.

Key ResponsibilitiesSession Leadership
- Lead the safe and effective delivery of evening youth sessions.
- Coordinate staff and volunteer responsibilities throughout each session.
- Ensure activities are delivered in line with agreed plans and organisational policies.
- Support the development of a welcoming, inclusive and positive environment for all young people.
- Respond appropriately to incidents, concerns andemerging issues during sessions.
Youth Work Delivery
- Build positive, professional relationships with youngpeople.
- Encourage participation, inclusion and youth voice.
- Support young people's personal, social andemotional development.
- Promote positive behaviour and manage challenging situations appropriately using restorativeapproaches where possible.
- Ensure all young people are treated with dignity, respect and fairness.
Safeguarding and Welfare
- Take responsibility for safeguarding during each session.
- Recognise, respond to and report safeguarding concerns in line with organisational safeguarding procedures .
- Ensure appropriate supervision ratios aremaintained.
- Promote the welfare, wellbeing and safety of all young people attending sessions.
- Maintain professional boundaries at all times.
Health and Safety
- Complete pre-session and post-session safety checks.
- Ensure risk assessments are followed and reviewedwhere necessary.
- Respond appropriately to accidents, incidents andemergencies.
- Ensure equipment and facilities are used safely and stored correctly.
Team Support
- Provide guidance and support to youth workers and volunteers during sessions.
- Contribute to staff debriefs and reflective practice.
- Support the induction of new staff and volunteers.
- Promote effective teamwork and positive communication.
Administration
- Ensure registers and attendance records arecompleted accurately.
- Complete incident, accident and safeguarding records promptly.
- Contribute to monitoring information and outcomereporting where required.
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with organisational policies and data protection legislation.
Person SpecificationEssential
- Experience of working with children and young people in a youth work, education, community orsimilar setting.
- Experience of supervising activities, staff orvolunteers.
- Good understanding of safeguarding and childprotection responsibilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
- Willingness to work regular evening shifts.
Desirable
- Youth Work qualification (Level 2 or above) or equivalent relevant experience.
- First Aid qualification.
- Mental Health First Aid qualification.
- Experience of planning or delivering youth activities.
- Knowledge of restorative practice or behaviour management approaches.
