This historic castle is located three miles outside Dalston, Cumbria, close to Carlisle and the M6, with views south across the Lake District fells.
Working alongside Rose Castle Company is the Rose Castle Foundation charity, which hosts international programmes and retreats at Rose Castle and elsewhere, bringing people together across challenging societal divides. Their aim is to equip a generation of reconciling leaders around the world.
The Role: Sales Manager
Rose Castle is seeking an experienced and proactive Sales Manager who blends commercial drive with warmth, personality and authentic relationship building.
As part of the leadership team, the Sales Manager will lead on proactive sales activity, business development and venue positioning across weddings, exclusive-use bookings, corporate retreats, celebrations and mission-aligned partnerships.
This role requires someone who is equally comfortable networking at wedding fairs, conducting personalised showrounds, building long-term corporate relationships, following up enquiries, developing strategic partnerships and creating memorable first impressions for potential clients.
The successful candidate will understand how to position a luxury yet welcoming destination venue whilst remaining aligned with the wider ethos and vision of Rose Castle.
Key ResponsibilitiesProactive Sales & Business Development
- Generate new business opportunities across weddings, retreats, celebrations, corporate events and exclusive-use stays.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with wedding planners, corporate clients, retreat organisers, tourism partners, local businesses and agencies.
- Attend wedding fairs, networking events, showcases and exhibitions to increase awareness and generate leads.
- Conduct proactive outreach, follow-ups and partnership meetings to drive enquiries and conversions.
- Develop and maintain a strong sales pipeline and conversion strategy.
- Identify strategic partnerships and opportunities aligned with the vision and ethos of Rose Castle.
Weddings & Events
- Position Rose Castle as one of the North’s most unique and sought-after destination venues.
- Conduct warm, engaging and highly personalised showrounds.
- Build strong relationships with couples and clients throughout the sales journey.
- Ensure smooth handover and communication with operational teams following conversion.
Corporate Retreats & Partnerships
- Develop relationships with companies, leadership organisations, wellbeing retreat providers and agencies.
- Position Rose Castle as a premium destination for meaningful gatherings, leadership retreats and creative offsites.
- Build awareness of the castle within values-led and purpose-driven networks.
Systems & Reporting
- Maintain accurate enquiry tracking, forecasting and conversion reporting.
- Utilise CRM and hospitality systems such as HubSpot and MEWS to manage pipelines and guest communications.
- Monitor sales performance and identify opportunities for growth and improvement.

- Organised approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Confidence using CRM systems, Microsoft Office and hospitality software.
