Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Grounds Maintenance Worker to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing outdoor spaces, ensuring they are safe, attractive, and well-kept. Responsibilities
- Conduct landscape maintenance including mowing, trimming, pruning, and planting to ensure aesthetic appeal and health of green spaces.
- Operate power tools such as lawnmowers, hedge trimmers, and blowers safely and efficiently.
- Use hand tools for gardening tasks like digging, planting, and weed control.
- Maintain irrigation systems to ensure proper watering schedules and repair any faults as needed.
- Operate machinery such as excavators for larger landscaping or construction projects.
- Perform general maintenance tasks including cleaning, repairing equipment, and ensuring safety standards are met.
- Assist with construction or installation projects related to outdoor spaces as required.
- Monitor the condition of outdoor areas regularly and report any hazards or issues promptly.
- Support seasonal activities such as leaf clearance or snow removal to keep grounds accessible and safe.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in landscape maintenance or gardening is highly desirable.
- Mechanical knowledge related to power tools and small machinery is advantageous.
- Familiarity with hand tools, irrigation systems, and power equipment such as excavators is preferred.
- Basic understanding of horticulture principles and gardening techniques.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions with physical stamina.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in maintaining grounds standards.
- Relevant qualifications or certifications in horticulture or construction are beneficial but not essential.
