The Role
We are looking for a practical, organised and safety-conscious Plant & Mine Operative to join our team at Hartham Park.
This is a varied role that combines the operation of heavy plant machinery with stock coordination, logistics support and customer service. As well as supporting the safe and efficient day-to-day operation of the mine, you will work closely with production, sales and logistics teams to ensure customer orders are processed efficiently, stock movements are accurately recorded and deliveries are coordinated effectively.
The successful candidate will enjoy working in a hands-on environment while also being comfortable using IT systems, communicating with colleagues, customers and hauliers, and helping ensure the smooth running of site operations.
Key ResponsibilitiesPlant & Mining Operations
- Operate a range of mobile plant including forklifts, telehandlers and dumpers.
- Carry out daily pre-start inspections and routine operational checks on machinery.
- Support the safe extraction, movement and storage of Bath Stone.
- Follow all health, safety and environmental procedures and contribute to maintaining a safe working environment.
- Report machinery defects and maintenance requirements promptly.
- Maintain good housekeeping standards across the site.
- Participate in Mines Rescue activities following successful completion of training.
Stock & Logistics Coordination
- Liaise with quarry, production, sales and logistics teams to coordinate stock availability and customer deliveries.
- Use the company's stock management and ticketing systems to record production, manage stock movements and process delivery tickets.
- Ensure delivery documentation is completed accurately and on time.
- Assist with production planning by communicating stock availability and operational updates.
- Coordinate with commercial team to support efficient deliveries.
Customer & Internal Support
- Communicate professionally with customers, suppliers and hauliers regarding deliveries and collections.
- Provide a positive customer experience for visitors and customers attending site.
Skills & Experience
We are looking for someone who is reliable, motivated and enjoys working as part of a collaborative team.
Ideally you will have:
- Experience within mining, quarrying, construction, agriculture or another heavy industrial environment.
- Experience operating heavy plant machinery.
- Relevant plant competency certificates or licences (preferred but not essential for the right candidate).
- Good IT skills and confidence using stock management, production or ticketing systems.
- Experience accurately recording production, stock or delivery information.
- Strong communication skills with the confidence to liaise with colleagues, customers, suppliers and hauliers.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- A proactive approach to problem solving.
- A strong commitment to health and safety.
- Excellent teamwork, reliability and timekeeping.
- A willingness to learn new skills and undertake further training.
What We Offer
- Permanent full-time contract (40 hours per week).
- Monday to Friday working with no regular shifts or weekend work.
- Salary of £29,120–£37,400, depending on experience.
- Production bonus following successful completion of probation.
