About the Role:
PSI Production is seeking a highly organised and proactive Service & Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) Manager to oversee and coordinate service operations across all company locations, including Belfast, Edinburgh, and Dublin.
This role combines operational management with hands-on technical capability, requiring the ability to both oversee maintenance strategy and personally diagnose and support resolution of complex mechanical and electrical faults on-site when required.
The successful candidate will ensure the efficient delivery of planned and reactive maintenance, maintain compliance with service-level agreements (SLAs), and drive continuous improvement in asset reliability, system performance, and engineering standards.
Key Responsibilities:
PPM & Maintenance Management
- Develop, implement, and continuously optimise Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) programmes developing a CMMS/maintenance management systems
- Ensure all maintenance activities are executed in line with manufacturer specifications, statutory requirements, and SLAs
- Adjust maintenance schedules based on asset condition, failure trends, and performance data
Technical Leadership & On-Site Support
- Provide technical oversight of all service and maintenance activities across mechanical and electrical systems
- Conduct on-site fault diagnosis and troubleshooting, particularly for complex or recurring issues
- Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and system layouts to identify root causes of failures
- Support engineers in resolving issues related to:
- Mechanical systems (motors, drive systems, moving components in Stage Engineering)
- Electrical systems (control panels, wiring, relays, power distribution - lighting and sound systems)
- Faulty components, system integration issues, or intermittent failures
- Carry out or supervise root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
Performance, SLA & KPI Management
- Ensure all service activities meet defined SLA response and resolution targets
- Monitor KPIs such as:
- PPM completion rate
- First-time fix rate (FTFR)
- Mean Time to Repair (MTTR)
- Equipment downtime
- Use data insights to drive continuous improvement in service delivery and asset performance
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations, industry standards, and statutory inspections
- Maintain accurate records within CMMS, including:
- Asset registers
- Service reports
- Maintenance history
- Compliance certifications
- Support audits by ensuring full traceability of all maintenance activities
Training & Technical Development
- Identify technical skill gaps and coordinate training programmes and certifications
- Ensure engineers are competent in:
- Fault-finding techniques
- Safe working practices
- Equipment-specific maintenance procedures
Client Management
- Act as a key technical point of contact for clients regarding service performance and system issues
- Provide clear explanations of technical faults, corrective actions, and preventative measures
- Build strong working relationships through technical credibility and service delivery excellence
Multi-Site Coordination
- Travel between Belfast, Edinburgh, and Dublin to:
- Conduct site inspections and technical reviews
- Support engineers on complex jobs
- Ensure consistency in standards and procedures
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in service management, maintenance engineering, or technical operations role
- Strong hands-on technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems
- Demonstrable ability to diagnose and resolve technical faults on-site
- Experience with:
- Fault finding and troubleshooting techniques
- Reading technical schematics and documentation
- Maintenance of complex equipment or systems
- Experience using CMMS / PPM systems
- Understanding of maintenance methodologies:
- Preventative maintenance
- Reactive maintenance
- Predictive maintenance (desirable)
- Knowledge of health & safety compliance and safe systems of work
- Experience managing engineers or field-based technical teams
- Strong organisational and scheduling capability
