About the Role
We are seeking a qualified and motivated MOT Tester / Vehicle Technician to join our growing team in Dorchester. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out MOT inspections, vehicle servicing, diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on both our internal fleet and customer vehicles.
You will be based at our newly acquired central Dorchester garage, currently undergoing a full refurbishment and fit-out with the latest MOT testing and diagnostic equipment. The site will operate as an extension of our established tyre business, GCS Tyreworld, providing MOT testing and servicing for motorcycles, cars, and light commercial vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes.

What We're Looking For
Ideally, you will hold DVSA MOT Tester Certification for Classes 1, 2, 4 and 7. However, for the right candidate, we are willing to provide training and support to achieve additional testing qualifications where required.
Essential Requirements
- Full, clean UK driving licence
- Qualified MOT Tester (Class 4 minimum)
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding experience
- Excellent attention to detail
- Good organisational and record-keeping skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- DVSA MOT Tester Certification for Classes 1, 2, 4 and 7
- Air conditioning service and repair qualification/experience
- Experience working on light commercial vehicles and vans
- Familiarity with modern diagnostic equipment
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct MOT tests in accordance with DVSA standards and regulations
- Manage MOT bookings and the efficient operation of the MOT bay
- Carry out vehicle servicing, maintenance, and repair work when not conducting MOT tests
- Perform vehicle diagnostics and identify faults accurately
- Repair and maintain mechanical, electrical, and air conditioning systems
- Maintain accurate service records and documentation
- Support and mentor apprentice or trainee technicians
- Work closely with colleagues to ensure work is completed efficiently and to a high standard
- Follow all health and safety procedures and company policies
