Northland Controls is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team in Letchworth, UK. This is an excellent opportunity for a part-qualified ACCA or CIMA professional looking to build their accounting career within a growing global organization.
Working closely with the Finance team, you'll support financial reporting, project accounting, month-end close activities, and management reporting while helping ensure the accuracy and integrity of our financial information. You'll gain exposure to a broad range of accounting responsibilities in a collaborative, fast-paced environment that encourages professional development.
What You'll Do

Maintain accurate financial records, reports, and general ledger accounts.

Support month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial analysis.

Monitor and analyze project costs, including labour, materials, subcontractors, and overhead expenses.

Track and reconcile project expenditures against budgets, identifying variances and supporting financial performance reporting.

Prepare Accounts Receivable month-end journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.

Process sales invoices and credit notes accurately and in a timely manner.

Provide administrative support for Accounts Receivable activities and assist with customer account inquiries.

Perform project and margin analysis to support business and operational decision-making.

Review financial information to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting standards and internal policies.

Support internal and external audits by preparing financial information and responding to audit requests.

Assist the Finance Manager with management accounting, reporting, budgeting, and other finance initiatives.

Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and reporting efficiency.

Support additional Finance projects and responsibilities as assigned.
What We're Looking For

Part-qualified ACCA or CIMA, or actively working toward a professional accounting qualification.

Experience in an accounting or finance environment.

Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.

Experience with project accounting or project cost tracking is highly desirable.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting or ERP systems.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.

Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.

A proactive approach with a willingness to learn and continuously develop professionally.
