Due to continued growth, we are seeking experienced and motivated Builders / Multi-Trade Operatives to join our installation teams working across social housing and private residential properties.
Role Overview
As a Builder / Multi-Trade Operative, you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of renewable energy and retrofit projects, including Air Source Heat Pumps, Solar PV, Loft Insulation, and other energy efficiency measures.
You will carry out a wide range of building, joinery, plastering, decorating, and making-good works before, during, and after installations, ensuring all projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards of workmanship.
The role requires strong multi-trade experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work professionally within customers' homes.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Air Source Heat Pump installation teams with associated building and making-good works.
- Support Solar PV installation teams with access works, remedial building works, and reinstatement works.
- Support Loft Insulation, Internal Wall Insulation, and other retrofit installation teams as required.
- Carry out general building repairs and property maintenance works.
- Complete joinery and carpentry works including boxing-in, framework alterations, timber repairs, skirting, architraves, and finishing details.
- Undertake internal and external plastering, patch repairs, rendering, and surface preparation.
- Carry out painting and decorating works to a high standard.
- Perform minor roofing repairs and associated access works where required.
- Install and repair flooring, trims, doors, and other finishing elements.
- Carry out making-good works following renewable energy and retrofit installations.
- Identify and report defects, structural concerns, damp issues, or property defects.
- Take photographic evidence and complete digital job records accurately.
- Maintain high levels of customer care when working within occupied social housing and private residential properties.
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety legislation and company procedures.
- Keep work areas clean, tidy, and safe throughout the installation process.
- Work collaboratively with heating engineers, electricians, insulation teams, supervisors, and surveyors.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience within domestic construction, retrofit, property maintenance, or multi-trade building environments.
- Strong skills in joinery, carpentry, plastering, decorating, and general building works.
- Experience carrying out making-good works following installations or refurbishment projects.
- Competent in the use of hand tools, power tools, and specialist trade equipment.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to overcome site challenges.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working on social housing contracts.
- Experience supporting renewable energy and retrofit projects.
- Knowledge of PAS 2030 and PAS 2035 requirements.
