Payroll Manager

Hours: 8.30am 5.00pm, Monday to Friday

Location: Gillingham office (with occasional travel to subsidiaries as required)

Salary Range: Up to £50,000, depending on experience

Contract type: Permanent

Your next role

Were looking for an experienced and proactive Payroll Manager to take ownership of the end-to-end payroll function at Senseco.

This is a key role within our Finance team, responsible for ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely payroll delivery across weekly and monthly cycles. You'll lead a small payroll team, act as a trusted subject-matter expert, and play an important part in supporting the business as it continues to grow.

What you will be doing

Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

Owning the full end-to-end payroll process across weekly and monthly payrolls
Leading, supporting, and developing the payroll team, providing day-to-day guidance and workload oversight
Managing payroll queries and resolving discrepancies accurately and professionally
Ensuring compliance with UK tax, pension, and employment legislation
Maintaining accurate payroll records and managing statutory reporting
Producing payroll reports, insights, and analysis for senior management
Supporting internal and external audits and ensuring payroll is audit-ready
Reviewing and improving payroll processes, systems, and controls
Keeping up to date with payroll legislation and best practice

Who we are looking for

Were looking for someone who combines strong payroll expertise with a calm, organised approach and a genuine interest in leading others.

You'll ideally bring:

Proven experience managing high-volume weekly and monthly payrolls
Strong knowledge of UK payroll rules, statutory reporting, and compliance requirements
Experience managing or supporting the development of others
Advanced Excel skills and confidence using payroll systems
The ability to manage deadlines and multiple priorities effectively
A proactive, improvement-focused mindset
CIPP qualification (Level 5 preferred) or equivalent experience
