Credit Hire Litigator Higher-Value, Taxi & Commercial Vehicle Claims (Salary Competitive)
Garvins Law is a specialist credit hire litigation practice.
We are looking for an experienced credit hire litigator to join our team and manage a focused caseload of higher-value, technically challenging and taxi/private hire and commercial vehicle claims.
This is an excellent opportunity to take real ownership of your cases, handle complex matters from issue through to settlement or trial, and make a genuine difference to our clients and the business.
THE ROLE You will:
- Manage your own caseload of litigated credit hire, vehicle damage, storage and recovery claims.
- Handle higher-value fast track, multi-track and intermediate track matters.
- Deal with taxi/private hire and commercial vehicle claims, including issues of need, period, rate, loss of profit, impecuniosity, mitigation and licensing.
- Analyse and respond to BHR evidence and intervention arguments.
- Draft pleadings, replies, witness statements, schedules, Part 18 responses and settlement correspondence.
- Make and respond to Part 36 and Calderbank offers and negotiate settlements commercially.
- Ensure compliance with court orders, limitation dates, CPR and the applicable costs regimes.
- Prepare applications and deal with procedural and evidential issues.
- Instruct counsel and experts and prepare cases thoroughly for hearings, conferences and trial.
- Provide clear, pragmatic advice to our credit hire and accident management clients.
ABOUT YOU You will:
- Have substantial recent experience of claimant credit hire litigation.
- Be confident running litigated cases from issue through to settlement or trial.
- Understand credit hire law, the CPR and fixed recoverable costs.
- Be experienced in need, period, rate, impecuniosity, mitigation, intervention and BHR evidence.
- Have experience of taxi/private hire and commercial vehicle claims, or a strong background in other technically complex credit hire matters.
- Be a strong drafter with excellent negotiation and case management skills.
- Have commercial awareness and good judgement.
- Be proactive, organised and able to take ownership of your files.
