Phlebotomist – Chelmsford Clinic
We are seeking an experienced, compassionate, and professional Phlebotomist to join our Chelmsford Clinic for 3 days a week Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and flexible to cover some holiday shifts as well.
In this role, you will provide safe, high-quality venipuncture and capillary blood collection services for adults and, preferably, children aged 5 years and above, while ensuring every client receives a professional, friendly, and reassuring experience.
You will be responsible for independently managing daily clinic operations, maintaining stock levels, processing bookings and payments, and supporting nearby clinics when required (mileage expenses paid).
Key Responsibilities
- Perform venepuncture and capillary blood collection for adults and, preferably, children aged 5 years and above.
- Ensure all patients are treated with care, dignity, empathy, and professionalism to minimise distress and discomfort.
- Accurately label, store, and manage biological samples in accordance with test requirements and company procedures.
- Maintain and replenish phlebotomy supplies, ensuring all materials are within expiry dates and stored correctly.
- Carry out daily cleaning and maintenance duties in line with infection prevention and control policies.
- Safely dispose of clinical waste and sharps in accordance with company protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Accurately update client records and enter data into the relevant systems.
- Manage clinic bookings, process card payments, and provide clients with test-related information.
- Support Team Managers with daily work allocation and client coordination.
- Assist with the training and onboarding of new staff members when required.
- Work independently and take ownership of clinic operations, stock control, and service delivery.
- Identify opportunities for service improvement and contribute to maintaining high clinical standards.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as required.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum of 12 months' full-time phlebotomy experience following completion of training and certification.
- Valid phlebotomy certificate.
- Up-to-date vaccinations, including Hepatitis B.
- DBS check issued within the last 3 years.
- Strong IT skills, including booking systems, payment processing, and data entry.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and confidently manage a clinic single-handedly.
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and efficient under pressure.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination, speed, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Comfortable working in a busy and fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information appropriately.
- Must have the legal right to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship available).
What We Offer
- Hourly rate of £18.00.
- Commission schemes available.
- When covering other clinics, the hourly rate increases to £20.00, and mileage or public transport costs will be reimbursed.

Are you able to reliably commute to our Chelmsford clinic (Tindal House, Tindal Square, Chelmsford, Essex, CM1 1EH) for the required shifts?
