Full job description

A&E Fire & Security is looking for a full-time Security Engineer to join our friendly team. We are based in Cheltenham, covering the South West, Midlands, South and London region of the UK. The company has been at the forefront of fire and security systems for over 55 years and continues to grow.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Engineer to join one of the UK’s leading Fire & Security Protection Companies.

This is a Permanent position, Monday to Friday 39 hours per week. We will provide you with a company vehicle company mobile phone, company pension and a bonus scheme alongside a competitive salary, there are also further opportunities for overtime available through call-outs and work outside our normal working hours.

Main Job Requirements:

The successful candidate will have demonstrable previous experience, technical skills, qualifications and knowledge of servicing (reactive and preventative) and installing Intruder Alarm Systems.

Experience and technical knowledge of CCTV and Access Control is also highly desirable. The candidate must hold current qualifications, have a stable work history and a full UK driving licence. The candidate will also need to be well organised and deliver excellent customer service.

Responsibilities will include attending sites to undertake the maintenance of security systems carrying out necessary fault finding, installing new systems and ensuring that all paperwork is carried out accurately and promptly.

Skills:

Technical knowledge of open and closed protocol Intruder Alarms, Access Control and CCTV.
Excellent knowledge in Intruder Alarm Signalling.
Excellent problem-solving skills for security systems, including networked/IP systems.
Excellent communication skills with customers whilst carrying out works at customer sites.
Exceptional customer service skills and a clean, tidy and professional work ethic at all times.
Ability to learn and adapt to changing environments, products and requirements.
Product and parts knowledge of associated alarm products and other security equipment.
Service, repairs and fault resolution of alarm systems.
Being able to interpret building plans and create systems as installed and zone plans.
Reporting of any changes or deficiencies with newly installed or existing alarm systems.
Accurate and legible completion of work reports and NSI certification.
Effective planning and management of work.
Quotations to customers for small works.
Supervision and personal development of trainees.
Adhering to Health & Safety requirements.
Vehicle care and maintenance.
Participation in the 24 hour on call rota diary.
Promoting the full range of fire protection services that we can offer our customers

To be considered for this role you must:

Possess a full UK driving licence.
Possess electrical knowledge.
Pass a DBS & security checks.
Have a proven background through an apprenticeship or similar qualification.
Able to carry equipment up and down ladders and steps, i.e. detectors, cable and power tools.
Have the ability to use hand tool and power tools to repair and dismantle equipment.
A qualification within a technical area would be highly desirable.
Be able to carry, lift and climb ladders.

Salary – £22,000-£36,000 depending upon experience, bonus scheme, overtime and call-outs available.
