Company Description
Mechan Limited specialises in the design, manufacture, installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of rail depot lifting and handling equipment. Our innovative, robust products are engineered to meet the demanding requirements of rail depots and workshops throughout the UK and internationally.
We are committed to delivering inherently safe, reliable, and serviceable equipment while maintaining internationally recognised quality standards and providing exceptional customer support throughout the product lifecycle.
Role Description
Due to continued growth, Mechan Limited is seeking a Site & Production Engineer to join our team on a full-time basis.
This is a predominantly factory-based role, with the majority of your time spent at our Sheffield manufacturing facility assembling, testing, inspecting, and preparing lifting and handling equipment for delivery.
In addition to your production responsibilities, you will also form part of our Site Engineering team, providing technical support to customers across the UK and, on occasion, internationally. Site work includes emergency breakdown response, fault finding, installation, commissioning, inspection, servicing, and planned preventative maintenance.
While the majority of site work is UK-based, the successful candidate must also be willing to undertake occasional international travel to support customer installations, servicing, inspections, and emergency breakdown requirements where necessary.
Although site attendance is not the primary function of the role, it is an essential requirement, and flexibility to travel at short notice is fundamental to the position.
Business Justification
As Mechan Limited continues to grow, we are strengthening our engineering capability to support both our manufacturing operations and our expanding after-sales service business.
The Site & Production Engineer role has been created to provide additional capacity within the Production and Site Engineering teams, ensuring resilience during periods of annual leave, employee absence, peak workloads, and emergency customer requirements.
This position is key to maintaining the high level of service our customers expect while supporting the continued growth of our service, maintenance, installation, and inspection activities.
By providing flexible engineering support across both factory production and customer sites, the successful candidate will help ensure equipment is manufactured, delivered, installed, maintained, inspected, and repaired efficiently, enabling Mechan Limited to continue delivering industry-leading customer support.
