Job Description
This position performs expert-level sheet metal, carpentry, and masonry to construct, install, maintain, and repair structures, ensuring high standards for fit, integrity, and finish.
Key Responsibilities:
- Planning & Layout: Interpret blueprints, sketches, and work orders to plan and execute construction and maintenance projects.
- Fabrication & Construction: Utilize skilled techniques and advanced mathematics to build, install, repair, and modify diverse structures like building frames, walls, staircases, and door/window frames.
- Masonry Work: Lay bricks, blocks, tile, and stone to maintain, repair, and construct interior and exterior surfaces.
- Safety & Maintenance: Adhere strictly to safety regulations, maintain a clean and safe workspace, and ensure all tools and equipment are properly used and maintained.
Qualifications and Key skills
· NVQ/ City and Guilds Level 2 in an appropriate discipline (i.e. Construction Skills)
· A valid UK CAT B driving license.
This role requires a highly skilled professional with comprehensive knowledge in carpentry, sheet metal, and masonry techniques, backed by a strong command of advanced shop mathematics to successfully plan and execute complex projects. The ideal candidate must be proficient in all phases of structural work—including construction, installation, repair, and modification—with the specialized ability to inspect damage and execute structurally sound, high-quality repairs. This includes fabricating intricate items from diverse materials such as stainless steel, aluminum, and other alloys, as well as executing decorative brickwork to achieve precise, high-finish designs. To support these hands-on tasks, the candidate must be adept at using geometric projection and triangulation to draft detailed plans, templates, and patterns for irregular shapes, while safely setting up, operating, and maintaining a wide array of precision power and hand tools. Finally, outstanding communication skills (both verbal and written), the ability to read and interpret complex technical blueprints, and a thorough commitment to industry safety regulations, environmental standards, and documentation requirements are essential for success in this multi-faceted position

2. You may be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft, and you may also be required to travel to the US or other country, in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training.
3. You will be required to complete a 6-month probationary period.
4. Work hours are flexible, subject to mission needs and policy, and may include overtime, shift work, evenings, weekends, or holidays. Other duties, appropriate to the grade and skillset, may be assigned
5. You must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Will be required to train/guide lower graded (or other trades) military/civilian employees.
6. May require certification for hazardous material handling/removal and must obtain/maintain all necessary US/UK certifications for the role.
7. This role requires a pre-employment health screening, heavy lifting (up to 90 lbs), prolonged standing, bending, kneeling, stooping, and comfortable work at heights and in cramped spaces.
8. Local National Direct Hire (LNDH) positions are not regularly drug tested, but testing may occur with reasonable suspicion or after a safety incident.
