Salary: £20,635 - £22,396 per annum (pro rata for part time and calculated to term time only).
Working Pattern: Part-time, 30 hours per week. Monday to Friday 08:15am to 2:15pm.
Contract Type: Permanent, Term Time Only (39 weeks plus 5 cleaning days – no inset days).

What is term time only working? A term time only contract is for our staff who are employed to work only during periods when schools are open. Your pay is calculated on an annual basis and then you are paid over twelve equal monthly instalments.

County Catering are proud to deliver school meals in special schools and to support the contract management of primary school meals and Meals on Wheels.
This exciting opportunity will require you to support the day-to-day operation of the kitchen including preparation, cooking, and cleaning to the required standards, ensuring hygiene and safety measure are maintained.
Your role as a Catering Supervisor goes beyond just cooking. You will also play a vital role in fostering a positive dining experience for students. From creating a welcoming atmosphere to providing exceptional customer service, your friendly and approachable nature will ensure that students feel valued and cared for during mealtimes.
As an essential member of the Catering Team, you will thrive in a busy environment, be adaptable and flexible and will support colleagues to maintain high professional standards. Your attention to detail and organisational skills will be crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of the kitchen.
What You Need To Succeed
Key Skills:
1. Ability to prepare and cook nutritious meals to a high standard within the required budget and following legislation and Government Standards.
2. Good interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, in order to interact with a range of customers and stakeholders including pupils with special needs.
3. Good levels of numeracy and literacy, in order to understand complex written instructions describing tasks and to check financial invoices and other documents.
4. Ability to provide strong leadership, which demonstrates team engagement.
5. Ability to organise / prioritise work and coordinate a variety of tasks in a clear and logical manner to meet agreed deadlines.
6. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate problems and resolve issues independently, planning solutions and make sound pragmatic decisions which will have a direct impact on the service.
Qualifications and/or experience:
- City & Guilds 706/1 & 2 or NVQ level 3 in Catering, or equivalent qualification or equivalent demonstrable experience.
- Level 2 Food Safety.
- Working knowledge of all relevant Food Hygiene and Health and Safety legislation.
- Knowledge of the government standards for school food and of special dietary requirements.
- Knowledge of ordering, costing and stock control.
- Experience in providing catering on a large scale, preparing and cooking fresh food from scratch.
- Experience of supervising or managing a team.
- Experience of monitoring and / or managing budgets effectively to help deliver an effective service within available resources.
