Autoshippers is a division of 1st Move International Ltd, a Bristol-based specialist shipping company exporting Cars, Motorbikes and household goods worldwide for commercial companies and members of the public.
We have been shipping vehicles for almost 30 years and we have built a reputation for delivering high-quality vehicle shipping to destinations across the globe.
We're looking for an experienced Freight Forwarder / Car Desk Operator with strong deep sea shipping knowledge to manage international vehicle export shipments from booking through to final delivery.
This role is ideally suited to someone with a background in ocean freight forwarding, export shipping, or international logistics who enjoys managing shipments from booking through to final delivery while providing outstanding customer service.
Key Responsibilities
1. Manage worldwide vehicle export shipments end-to-end
2. Act as the primary point of contact for customers throughout their shipment
3. Liaise with shipping lines and overseas partners to secure bookings and manage shipment schedules
4. Prepare and issue shipping & Bill of Lading instructions
5. Complete export customs declarations using HMRC CDS
6. Monitor shipment progress and proactively communicate updates to customers
7. Coordinate with overseas agents regarding customs clearance and final delivery arrangements
8. Produce customer invoices using internal systems
9. Maintain accurate shipment records and documentation within company software
10. Resolve operational issues quickly and professionally to minimise disruption to customers
About You
We are looking for someone who can hit the ground running and bring practical export shipping experience to our team
Essential Requirements
1. Minimum 2 years' experience in ocean freight forwarding, export shipping, logistics, or international removals
2. Strong understanding of ocean export procedures and shipping documentation
3. Excellent customer service and communication skills
4. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously
5. High attention to detail and accuracy
6. Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications
7. Ability to work independently and as part of a close-knit team
Desirable Experience
1. Experience preparing Bills of Lading and shipping instructions
2. Experience liaising with shipping lines, NVOCCs, and overseas agents
3. Experience coordinating FCL and LCL shipments
4. Knowledge of customs procedures would be beneficial, although full training will be provided
