Marldon Christmas Tree Farm is looking for some very special Christmas Elves to join our team!
If you have a background in acting, theatre, performing or character entertainment, love Christmas and have the personality to make children believe they’ve stepped into the North Pole, this could be the perfect festive role for you!
We’re looking for confident, energetic, highly engaging and genuinely magical performers who can completely immerse themselves in the role of a Christmas Elf and help us create a grotto experience that families will never forget.
THE ROLE
As one of our Christmas Elves, you won’t simply be helping to manage the grotto – you will be part of the magic.
From the moment a family enters the Christmas experience, you’ll help transport them into the world of the North Pole.
You’ll be expected to stay in character throughout the experience, interacting naturally with children and parents, telling stories, creating excitement, improvising, playing games and making every family feel as though they have stepped into a real Christmas story.
You will work alongside Father Christmas to create a fully immersive grotto experience, helping to make each visit personal, exciting and memorable.
Your role could include:
- Welcoming families into the magical world of the North Pole
- Remaining confidently in character throughout the grotto experienc
- Working closely with Father Christmas to create a believable and immersive experience
- Interacting with children and families throughout their entire visit
- Telling stories, singing, playing games and creating spontaneous moments of magic
- Using humour, improvisation and personality to keep children engaged
- Helping children feel comfortable, excited and completely immersed in the experience.
- Creating individual magical moments that families will talk about long after they leave
- Entertaining and engaging children while they wait, without making the experience feel like simply "waiting in a queue"
- Helping guide families through the experience while maintaining the magic and atmosphere
- Adapting your approach to different ages, personalities and family situations
- Helping create memorable interactions that feel personal rather than scripted
- Working as part of a close-knit team of Elves and Father Christmas
- Helping manage busy periods and queues without ever breaking character or losing the Christmas atmosphere
WE ARE LOOKING FOR REAL PERFORMERS
This role is not simply about putting on an Elf costume and smiling at children.
We want people who can act.
You should be comfortable taking on a character, improvising conversations, reacting to unexpected situations and confidently engaging with children and adults alike.
You need to be able to walk into the grotto and make children genuinely believe:
"This really is a Christmas Elf!"
A background in acting, theatre, performing arts, children's entertainment, immersive experiences, character work, events or holiday entertainment would be highly desirable.
You should also be:
- Naturally confident and outgoing
- Extremely friendly and approachable
- Energetic and enthusiastic
- Comfortable performing in front of groups
- Excellent at improvisation
- Brilliant at reading a room and adapting to different children
- Patient and professional
- Reliable and responsible
- Comfortable dealing with busy periods, queues and unexpected situations
- Able to work as part of a team
- Passionate about creating exceptional customer experiences
Most importantly, you must understand that every family who walks through the grotto door should feel special.
We want children to leave believing they have genuinely experienced something magical – and for parents to look back and think:
"That was absolutely incredible. They'll never forget that."
WHEN?
The role will be weekend work from the end of November throughout December.
As Christmas gets closer, we will also be open for the final couple of days during the week, so there may be additional opportunities to join us and spread some festive cheer!
