Full job description

We are seeking a motivated and committed candidate living in the Cullompton area to start their career in construction as an Apprentice Civil Engineer. This is an opportunity to earn while you learn on a paid apprenticeship with the additional support of the Shared Apprenticeships team.

This role involves providing technical support to engineers and other construction professionals

The main duties and tasks linked to this apprenticeship are assisting senior managers As a civil engineer you could be:

Assisting with site investigations
Assessing the worth and potential risks of projects
Developing blueprints using computer-aided design (CAD)
Liaising with architects, subcontractors, consultants, co-workers and clients
Ensuring projects meeting legal requirements and health and safety standards
Resolving design and development problems
Managing budgets and other project resources
Attending public meetings to discuss projects
Using computer modelling software to analyse surveys and mapping data
Preparing project bids and reports
Assessing a project’s environmental impact and potential risk
Monitoring project progress and ensuring it meets legal and health and safety requirements
Working on-site in all weathers or in an office..

The Employer

Shared Apprenticeships is a not-for-profit Social Enterprise employing apprentices and placing them on work placements with contractors in the construction industry.

Each of our apprentices has access to an Apprentice Manager for mentoring support who is committed to overseeing them through to completion and onward progression into the industry and/or a higher apprenticeship.

The Training

This apprenticeship is CIVIL ENGINEERING SENIOR TECHNICIAN LEVEL 3. It can take up to 36 months plus 6 months EPA period to complete this apprenticeship. The majority of the training is achieved in the workplace and the apprenticeship course is usually delivered one day per week in term-time by a local college or independent training provider.

Entry Requirements

We work in collaboration with the nominated college to assess individual applicants, but the typical entry requirements for this apprenticeship are five GCSEs or equivalent, including Maths, English and a Science; or a Level 2 Apprenticeship.

Job Type: Apprenticeship

Salary: As a minimum this job is paid at published National Minimum Wage rates.
