Job Purpose
The Multi Trader will deliver a wide range of installation, maintenance, and refurbishment tasks within commercial office environments. The role focuses on delivering high-quality finishes, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations, and completing works in line with project schedules, safety standards, and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities1. Refurbishment & Installation Works
- Carry out office fit-out and refurbishment tasks including partitioning, suspended ceiling works, flooring installation, and general carpentry.
- Install or modify fixtures and fittings such as doors, handles, worktops, cabinetry, desks, shelving, and acoustic panels.
- Assist with minor M&E installations, including fitting light fixtures, relocating sockets, basic plumbing adjustments, and HVAC minor works (within competency).
- Undertake decoration tasks such as painting, wall preparation, tiling, and finishing to a high commercial standard.
- Support the strip-out of old office layouts, ensuring safe removal and disposal of materials.
2. Maintenance & Repairs
- Complete reactive and planned maintenance works across a range of trades.
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to carpentry, basic electrics, plumbing, ceilings, and partitions.
- Ensure all repairs are carried out efficiently and safely with minimal disruption to office staff.
3. Health, Safety & Compliance
- Follow all site safety rules, method statements, and risk assessments.
- Ensure all tools, machinery, and materials are used safely and correctly.
- Comply with building regulations, company policies, and client security procedures.
- Maintain a clean and hazard-free work environment throughout all phases of refurbishment.
4. Coordination & Communication
- Work closely with project managers, site supervisors, and other trades to ensure smooth delivery of the refurbishment programme.
- Liaise with office staff, building managers, and clients in a professional and respectful manner.
- Provide clear updates on progress, issues, or material needs.
- Ensure accurate completion of job sheets, reports, and documentation.
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience as a Multi Trader, ideally within commercial office refurbishment, facilities management, or fit-out projects.
- Competent in at least two core trades (e.g., carpentry, plumbing, painting/decorating, tiling, basic electrics).
- Strong understanding of commercial building systems, office layouts, and standard fit-out materials.
- Ability to read drawings, follow plans, and work to tight deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
Desirable Qualifications
- NVQ or City & Guilds in a relevant trade.
- CSCS card or equivalent site safety certification.
- Asbestos awareness, PASMA, IPAF, or manual handling training.
- Experience working in occupied office spaces or commercial buildings.
